He was there to console a mother who'd just lost her son in Vietnam. He was there when Geronimo Pratt passed from this life to the next. He was there when Black and Brown gangs were ready to negotiate a truce. He was there to adopt two children along with his wife of 42 years. And we haven't even touched his favorite accomplishment.
