Prentice Powell - When Words Sculpt Worlds

Writer and spoken word artist Prentice Powell got his start weaving words after his mother had him enroll in Forensic Speech and Debate. His mother, a former police officer as well as a former Black Panther, made sure he found a new outlet for his energy and intelligence after a rock throwing incident brought him to the juvenile justice system.

His linguistic prowess took him to the nationals. Now he makes his living on sculpting words. He's toured with Jill Scott, appeared on the Arsenio Hall Show and appeared on all five seasons of Verses and Flow. He shares his thoughts on personal growth, self-love and accountability.

His most popular spoken word performance is The System. Other great examples of his work include Sick and Tired and Yo Mama.
