Micheal Stafford, Jr. - God Knew What He Was Doing

Like so many of the Brothers, Mike is a husband and father. He's an auto broker, entrepreneur and the host of The Time Is Now podcast. The podcast is an expression of his being an avid sports fan.

Michael candidly shares the ups and the downs with us. The joy of finally having the baby brother he always wanted, as well as the heartbreak of losing the baby brother he cherished through suicide. The heartbreak lead to a breakdown. It was impending fatherhood that helped him heal. In fact, he shares some of the ways becoming a father to a daughter has changed his  perspective.

Leadership comes to him naturally. From heading multiple collegiate organizations to working his way up from valet to Sales Manager at a Lexus Dealership, Michael keeps learning, keeps moving and keeps building.

Micahel's a member of the He's also a founding member of the Alliance for the Presevation of African Consciousness. He's also a member of the National Society of Black Engineers.

Favorite songs. Mike insisted on three. Turns out that was revealing: Michael Jackson's Man in the Mirror; Until the End of Time by Tupac; and You Will Know by BMU (Black Men United).

Favorite words: The Miseducation of the Negro a book by Carter G. Woodson and the quote "Learn from the mistakes of others, for you will not live long enough to make them all yourself." The quote is attributed to various people with minor variances.

About this podcast: In each episode, a Brother reflects on his life; explores the experience of being a Black man in America; shares his interactions with law enforcement; and answers the question "If America was a woman, what would you say to her?"

Every interview starts with getting-to-know-you questions about favorites, accomplishments and then goes deeper. You won't find a collection of conversations with Black men like this anywhere else. Hear their wisdom.
